The MOTH sent this photo to me at work today. Our first seedling!

Looks like it is the Arugula. The wider shot below seems to suggest the Broccoli is starting to come up as well (column 6, row 3):

Nikki: A city dweller most of my life, I bought my first house in the New Jersey suburbs in July 2011. As a new construction, the land around the house is pretty much a blank slate. There is an ugly tree in the front yard, a few foundation plantings that the builder put in, and a small backyard shaded by large trees in the summer. All winter I have been thinking about and researching how to turn this somewhat pathetic wasteland into a beautiful, fertile, lush oasis of tranquility and productivity (read pretty plants and flowers and yummy veggies). I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm researching everything I can find on the subject. I'm very nervous about making a mistake.
